Some Frequently Asked Questions about the AlMen Project:
Q. Why Is The AllMen Project Necessary?
There are two key reasons why the
AllMen Project is necessary. Firstly, men and boys face a number of distinct
challenges in areas like education, health, mental health, parenting and
personal safety where a targeted focus on men and boys can make a huge
difference. Secondly, men and boys are far less likely to be involved in social
projects so we aim to support some of the men who are making a difference in
this area and make it easier for more men to make a bigger contribution in this
area in future.
Q. Is The AllMen Project only for men?
A. Yes and No! The AllMen Project is
a diverse mix of communities of interest and communities of identity. One of
our communities of identity is ‘men and boys’. When this aspect of our
community gathers it will often be in men-only contexts. Our key community of
interest is people who are committed to improving men and boys lives. Many of
the leading people in this field are women, so when this community of interest
gathers it will often include both men and women. Finally, both our communities
of interest and our communities of identity will both deliver projects from
time to time that are targeted specifically at men, or boys, or just men and boys.
Q. What Do You Actually Do?
A. The AllMen Project provides a
supportive and empowering community to help individuals who are making a
difference for men and boys to develop their work and make a bigger difference.
We provide our community with opportunities to access personal and professional
development and training from small men’s personal development groups to large
conferences for professional practitioners.
Q. Do You Deliver Services For Men and Boys
At present we do not deliver
services for men and boys although some of the people we support are delivering
frontline services. We also empower people to develop new projects to improve
the lives of men and boys through our Change-Maker training. Over time, one of
our aspirations is to develop models for delivering services for men and boys
that can be rolled out and replicated around the world.
Q. What Type Of Men’s Group Are You?
Men’s organisations tend to be
defined in various ways including pro-feminist, anti-feminist, men’s rights,
fathers’ rights, mythopoetic and religious. The AllMen Project is none of
these. The AllMen Project is best described as being part of an emerging
Integral Men’s Movement. To read more about the Integral approach, click here now.
Q. Are You A Charity?
A.The AllMen Project is not a charity,
it is a community of likeminded people and we are considering the benefits of
developing a charitable arm for our work in future.
Q. Can Anyone Get Involved?
A. Yes, the AllMen Project is open to
all men and women, to find out the most appropriate way for you personally to get involved click here now.
